After School Discovery Students Love Tennis
SAYBROOK TOWNSHIP — A culminating tennis tournament will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at Lakeside High School.
After School Discovery received a grant from the U.S. Tennis Association to cover the cost of this program.
The goal of the program was to take students who had some tennis experience and teach them additional skills, while encouraging a love of the game. Expertise and coaching was directed by Arnold Bradshaw, who began Geneva’s tennis program and is a USTA recognized coach.
Further coaching and skills was taught by Phil Dubsky, Geneva’s tennis coach, and other volunteers who have been long-time tennis enthusiasts in the area.
The program began with more than 100 students and will end with about 40 students participating in tournament play Monday.
