June 30, 2012 Letters to the editor: Arlene Staida

It was special graduation

On Friday, June 1, 7:30 p.m. at Lakeside High School, I had the pleasure of attending the graduation exercises of my grandson, Jonah’s pre-school class.
As you entered the special events door at Lakeside, you felt like it was a special event. Programs were handed out  as you entered the auditorium.
As the light dimmed on the stage, a spotlight was on the curtains. When those curtains  opened you saw four-, five- and six-year-old  children, dressed in caps and gounds. This truly was a once in a lifetime moment.
Those children sang and waved to a packed auditorium of parents, grandparents, siblings and families. That evening we all shared a common bond, the love for our children.
As each child’s name was announced, a medal signifying the completion of pre-school was placed  around their neck. Tears and cheers were abundant, After the ceremony refreshments were served in one of the lounges. Each table was marked with the child’s name and their pictures, so everyone knew just where to sit.
This event was extremely well organized and can liken it to a well oiled machine.
Many thanks to the dedicated and caring teachers and staff at ABAC Learning Center. Special thanks to Miss Andria and Miss Tammy the teachers of this class. Your vision made Friday evening a night I personally  will never forget.
