Vera Eileen Pentz, age 94, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012, at Country Club Retirement Center where she had been a resident for the past 15 months.
She was born March 17, 1918, in Warren, Ohio, the daughter of Frank Lewis and Nellie May (King) Henry and had been an Ashtabula County resident since 1951.
Mrs. Pentz had been a member of First Baptist Church of Kingsville and enjoyed flowers, gardening, hummingbirds, Lawrence Welk and playing the piano and organ. A talented lady, she loved to crochet and did many other arts and crafts.
She loved to eat and had a genuine sweet-tooth, especially fond of ice cream and candy. However, her greatest passion in life was her family and her grandkids in particular who knew her as “Booie”. Few holidays and family gatherings would ever pass without her hosting the event.
Her survivors include two sons, James W. (Brenda) Pentz of Richmond, Va. and Phillip G. (Karen) Pentz of Winston Salem, N.C.; two daughters, Judith A. (Don Bertleff) Cirino of Rome and Linda L. (Joe) Bojanowski of Taylors, S.C.; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and one brother, Raymond Henry of Warren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John William “Bill” Pentz Jr. on July 15, 2000; one sister, Dorothy Botts; and her parents.
A Service will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 9th, at ZABACK-WILLIAMS-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 500 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula. The Rev. David Hines, Pastor of Kingsville Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Lulu Falls Cemetery, Kingsville Township.
Calling Hour will be held at the Funeral Home on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the hour of Service.
