ASHTABULA — Bernice J. Day, age 87, of E. 26th St., Ashtabula, died Saturday, June 21, 2014, at Country Club Retirement Campus.
She was born Nov. 25, 1926, in Ashtabula, the daughter of August and Marguerite (Burkhart) Braunbeck. She was a 1944 graduate of Kingsville High School.
Bernice worked for Carlisle’s Department Store for 30 years, retiring in 1985.
She was an active member of Kingsville Presbyterian Church where she was involved in the soup luncheons and candy making. She was a member of the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed knitting and reading.
Surviving her is her daughter, Patricia (Stephen) Jones of Grove City, Ohio; a granddaughter, Christy Verdi; two great-grandchildren, Kelsey and Katelyn; sister, Barbara (Donald) Brown of Ashtabula; and also survived by much loved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Michael E. Day; daughter, Mary Jane Verdi; and a sister, Berneda Williams.
A Memorial Service will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, June 26th, at Kingsville Presbyterian Church, 3506 W. Main St., Kingsville.
