MENTOR — Glenn E. Eippert, M.D., age 77, of Mentor, Ohio and former Ashtabula resident, died Thursday, June 19, 2014, at his home.
He was born April 3, 1937, in Ravenna, Ohio, the son of Ellis and Dorothy (Riggenbach) Eippert. He married Linda Street on June 13, 1955.
He graduated from Capital University, UC College of Medicine and served his Residency at Akron General Hospital. He was a Captain in the Air Force from 1964 to 1967 when he moved to Ashtabula and served as a Family Practioner in Ashtabula for over 50 years until his retirement in 2006. In 2011, he and wife moved to Mentor, Ohio, to be closer to their children.
He was named Ohio Outstanding Team Physician in 1998 and was a Fellow in the American Academy of Family Physicians. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ashtabula. He was an avid Fly-Fisherman and enjoyed spending time with his family.
Surviving him are his wife of 55 years, Linda; three sons, Gary (Jill) Eippert PHD. of Cincinnati, Ohio, Greg (Kelly) Eippert, M.D. of Concord, Ohio and Tim Eippert of Concord, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Jeffery, Matthew, Allyson, Marshall, Bethany, Madelyn and Jackson; a sister, Debra Eippert of San Antonio, Texas; a nephew, Michael Eippert; and a niece, Jeni Nix.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Carl Eippert.
Funeral Service will be held 11 a.m., Monday, June 23rd, at First United Methodist Church, 4506 Elm Ave., Ashtabula, with the Rev. Christine Bell and the Rev. Richard Lehto officiating.
Calling Hours will be from 3 to 6 p.m., Sunday, June 22nd, at the Ashtabula Home of FLEMING & BILLMAN FUNERAL DIRECTORS AND CREMATORY, 526 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula.
