GENEVA — Helen Wanda Bailey, age 96, died Thursday, June 19, 2014.
She was born May 18, 1918, in Fairport Harbor, daughter of Peter and Anna Kanyuk Sabadosh. She married the love of her life, Chalmers Bailey, on Jan. 3, 1974.
She was the mother of five children: two daughters, Suzanne Ryan, and MiMi Johnston; three sons, John, James and Bill Misch; step-children, Troy (Christine) Bailey, Cindy (Dan) Fish, and Clifford Bailey; and 9 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Nicholas, Pauline, Margaret, Julia, Edith and Annie; and her husband, Chalmers Bailey in 1987.
Helen loved life, her children and her wonderful husband and her many friends. Helen never knew a stranger. She was a long time member of the ABWA Golden Chalice Chapter and involved with the VFW, and American Legion.
She worked at the Old Tavern in Unionville, and the Opportunity Village in Madison as a secretary. She graduated High School in Fairport Harbor and loved school, college, cheerleading, visiting family and in-laws all over the USA, and enjoyed recalling her time working on a yacht.
The family would like to express a special thanks to Hospice of the Western Reserve and to the many people at Geneva Village for their care and concern.
Memorial Services will be held 3 p.m., Sunday, June 22nd, at Rock Creek United Methodist Church, 3210 N. Main, Rock Creek, Ohio, with the Rev. Vernon Palo officiating. Calling Hours will be begin at 1 p.m., Sunday, at the Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family, or the church.
