Norman J. David, age 78, died Sunday morning, June 15, 2014, at his residence on Uselma Ave. in Jefferson, Ohio.
He was born Sept. 19, 1935, in Jefferson, the son of the late Joseph F. and Sue A. (Nassar) David. Norman grew up in Jefferson before joining the U.S. Navy, serving 32 years, ending his naval career as a Command Master Chief in 1984 and returned to Jefferson in 1985 from Memphis, Tenn. He was married to the late Anna M. Curry on May 9, 1959, in Camden, N.J.
He was a member of St. Joseph Calasanctius Church, American Legion Post #152, the former Jefferson Exchange Club and C.O.P.D. International. He was a Scout Master for many years for Troop #277. Norm was an avid bowler and served as assistant to Mayor Nizen after returning to Jefferson.
Survivors include three children, Cindy S. David of Lakewood, Marc J. David and Michelle M. David, both of Jefferson; a grandson, Nolan R. David of Cleveland; and a brother, Thomas J. (Carol) David of Jefferson.
Funeral Services will be 4 p.m., Saturday, June 21st, at the Jefferson Home of FLEMING & BILLMAN FUNERAL DIRECTORS & CREMATORY, INC., 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, with the Rev. Fred Grimm, of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, officiating. VFW Geneva Post #6846 will offer Military Honors immediately following the service. A military burial at sea will take place at a later date.
Visitation will be held Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
