JEFFERSON — Virginia E. (Hofrichter) Jones, age 94, formerly of W. Tower Road, Dorset, died Friday afternoon, June 13, 2014, at Jefferson Healthcare Center where she had been a resident the past four years.
She was born July 1, 1919, in Cleveland, and lived most of her life there before moving to this area 25 years ago.
Virginia was a loving and giving person often helping others in need. She was a long standing member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Cleveland that she still supported for many years after moving to Dorset Township. She enjoyed flower gardening. Mrs. Jones was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and recently a great-grandmother.
She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Edward E. Jones whom she married on July 7, 1977 in Cleveland; step-son, Ricky (Alice) Jones of Dorset; grandchildren, Richard (Jordan) Jones of Kent, and David Jones and Katey Jones, both of Dorset; great-grandson, Parker Ethan Jones; sister, Ruth Goldstone of Elyria; brother, Albert Hofrichter of Willowick; and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Clarence Thistlewood; and a son, Jay Thistlewood.
Funeral Services will be held 12 p.m., Tuesday, at the Geneva Home of FLEMING & BILLMAN FUNERAL DIRECTORS AND CREMATORY, 323 S. Broadway, Geneva, with Pastor Ed Pickard officiating. Burial will take place 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, at Knollwood Cemetery in Mayfield Heights.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of Service, at the Funeral Home.
