Raymond A. Rudloff, age 83, of Pekin Road, Newbury Township, Ohio, died Monday, June 2, 2014, at University Hospital in Cleveland.
He was born April 11, 1931, in Cleveland, Ohio, the second son and third child of the late Raymond G. and Grace I. (Newland) Rudloff. He was a 1950 graduate of Willoughby Union High School.
Raymond was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean War, serving on the U.S.S. Pittsburgh, CA-72, a heavy cruiser. Ray was retired from General Electric Company, having worked for GE Lighting at Nela Park in East Cleveland, and also at the former East 152nd St. plant.
In his free time, he enjoyed farming and beekeeping.
He was a member of Acacia Lodge #651 in Lyndhurst, Ohio; Grand Valley Chapter 189 Royal Arch Masons in Euclid, Ohio; 32 Degree Mason in the Valley of Cleveland Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite; Al Koran Shriners in Broadview Heights; The American Legion; U.S.S. Pittsburgh, CA-72 Association; U.S. Navy Cruiser Sailors Association; Ohio Farm Bureau; Ohio State Beekeepers Association; Historical Engine Society; and the National Rifle Association.
He is survived by his three sons, Jim (Stephanie) of Zanesville, Ohio, Bill (Beth) of Casselberry, Fla., and Tom (Julie Haddock) of Newbury; four grandchildren, Christian, Matthew, Katie and Evan; and a half-brother, Gordon of Delaware, Ohio.
Besides his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his sister, Helen Covert; his brothers, Glenn and Richard; and his fiancée, Neva Wood.
Calling Hours will be 5 to 8 p.m., with a Masonic Service at 7:30 p.m., Today, Friday, June 6th, at BURR FUNERAL HOME, 116 South St., (On Rt. 44, 500’ south of Rt. 6/Chardon Square) Chardon, Ohio, and one hour prior to services, which begin at 1 p.m., Saturday, June 7th, at Chardon Baptist Church, 363 Wilson Mills Road. Pastor Jim Hayes will officiate. Burial will follow at Acacia Masonic Memorial Park, 1880 SOM Center Road, Mayfield Heights.
