CONNEAUT — Lena Orrenmaa, age 94, of Conneaut, died Friday afternoon, Nov. 16, 2012, at her residence with her family at her side.
Lena was born April 18, 1918, in Conneaut, Ohio, the daughter of John and Jennie (Campanelli) Ruccolo. She attended Conneaut High School and later met and married her late husband Paul Orrenmaa on Oct. 30, 1937, at St. Mary Church in Conneaut.
Lena went on to work as the Owner/Operator at the family grocery store on Chestnut St., in Conneaut called Orrenmaa’s Grocery Store & Ice Cream Parlor. Lena enjoyed playing cards, bingo, shopping and traveling to Las Vegas to the Casino’s. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren and her family and was also a great cook, making her Italian sauce, sausage, meatballs and braciole.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul Orrenmaa in 1993; sisters, Mary Taddeo, Teresa Kalina, Santa Rapose, Virginia Incorvia, Lucille Mononen; and brothers, Anthony Ruccolo, Paul Ruccolo and Louis Ruccolo.
Lena is survived by two sons, David Orrenmaa of Conneaut and Jon and Kelly Orrenmaa of Ashtabula; two daughters, Pamela Orrenmaa of Conneaut, Paula and Glenavon Marcy of Kingsville; grandchildren, Daniel Bermudez, Jon, Andrea, Lauren, Branden and Aaren Orrenmaa and Ryan Marcy; and eight great-grandchildren.
At Lena’s request, there will be no calling hours or services. Burial will take place Monday afternoon at Glenwood Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made in Lena’s memory to the charity of one’s choice. Envelopes will be available at RAISIAN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 581 Harbor St., Conneaut, who is handling the funeral arrangements.
