WESTFORD, Pa. — Paul McDonald Gillespie, age 89, of 6857 Pyma Dr., Westford, Pa., died Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, at 4:02 a.m., at his Pymatuning lake home.

He was born March 24, 1924, in Titusville, to Walter and Teresa (McDonald) Gillespie. He married Charlotte “Chuckie” Averill, she survives.

He served in the U.S. Army as a T-Sgt. during World War II.

Paul received his degree in Aero Space Engineering from the Univ. of Detroit and worked at TRW Inc. in conjunction with NASA.

He was a former member of the ASME, SAE, SPE, and Toastmasters. He was also a former charter member of the Redford Council #3571 Knights of Columbus in Detroit, Mich. Also a former member of the Cleo Ross American Legion Post and the Bruce Shorts VFW in Titusville. He was a member of the Jamestown Lions Club, Jamestown, Pa. and the Greenville VFW. He was a charter member of the World War II Memorial Society in Washington, D.C. He served as vice chairman of the Executive Board of Crawford Co. Republican Party and served as a committee person in South Shenango Township.

He enjoyed golfing, trout fishing along the streams and bartending.

In addition to his wife of 65 years, he is survived by three sons, Bob (Robert) Gillespie and his wife, Sandy, of Villa Hills, Ky., Jeff Gillespie and his wife, Michelle, of Villa Hills, Ky. and Doug Gillespie of Corbin, Ky.; two daughters, Dr. Chris Gillespie and her husband, Dan Becker, of Warminster, Pa. and Sue Kaskey and her husband, Mark, of West Chester, Pa.; a sister, Ruth Fegers and her husband, Bob, of Leesburg, Fla.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, Daniel Paul Gillespie; infant daughter, Mary Martha Gillespie; daughter, Linda Gillespie; and a sister, Jean McFadden.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 10th, with a Lion’s Necrology Service at 8 p.m., at RANDALL FUNERAL HOME, 416 Liberty St., Jamestown, Pa.

Mass will be held 10 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 11th, at Our Lady of Victory, 481 S. Main St., Andover, Ohio 44003, with Fr. Matthew Albright officiating. Military Honors will be presented by the Jamestown Honor Guard Post #5424. Burial will be at St. Catherine’s Cemetery, 12231 Rt. 8, Titusville, Pa.
