GENEVA — Mary Josephine "Mary Jo" Metzler, age 77, died at her home on Friday, August 30, 2013.
She was born March 20, 1936, in Geneva, where she lived all of her life. She was the daughter of Henry and Mary (Felz) Metzler.
Mary Jo is survived by her siblings, Henry A. (Joan) Metzler and Albina (Lloyd) Warner, both of Geneva; as well as her nieces nephews, Lori (Jeff) Anderson of Geneva with whom she made her home, Cyndi (Mark) Roman of Westville, Ind., Henry J. (Shawn) Metzler of Austinburg, Richard (Tammy) Warner of Madison, Pamela (Carl) Brockway of North Lima, Jodee (David) Downie and John (Amber) Metzler, both of Geneva and Mary E. (Denver) Hennessey of Fairport Harbor; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; nephew, Michael L. Warner; and her cherished pet, “Tippy.”
Mary Jo retired from Alltel in 1991 and was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Geneva all of her life. She also served as a Sunday school teacher, Financial Secretary and Treasurer of St. John's.
She enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading, crossword puzzles, word find; and she was a big Cleveland Indians and Browns Fan.
Calling Hours will be held from 6 to 9 p.m., Today, Sept. 3rd, at WALKER FUNERAL HOME, 828 Sherman St., Geneva and also at the Church one hour before the Service.
Funeral Service will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 4th, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 811 S. Broadway, Geneva, with the Rev. Jonathan Schroeder officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Geneva.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church in memory of Mary Jo.
