SALEM, Ore. — John Blase Oros, age 74, formerly of Chapel Road, Jefferson, passed away Thursday, August 29, 2013, at Tierra Rose Skilled Nursing Facility.
He was born June 1, 1939, in Mantua, Ohio, the son of Stephen and Anna (Barnett) Oros, and had been an Ashtabula resident since 1971.
Prior to his retirement, Mr. Oros operated his own business, Able Painting and Decorating for 34 years. He was a very talented and skilled painter and wallpaper hanger.
In his spare time, he enjoyed bowling, fishing, card playing and farming. He was an avid fan of horseracing and baseball.
His survivors include two daughters, Linda Arthurs (Bruce) of San Jose, Calif. and Shelby J. Oros of Chantilly, Va.; one son, Joseph Oros (Tricia) of Geneva; 9 grandchildren, Rachel Gonzales, Kathleen, Joseph Jr., Bridget and Mary Boylan, Stephen and Christina, Andrew and Matthew Oros; and three brothers, Albert, Mike and Andrew Oros.
Mr. Oros was also a proud sponsor to Betsy, a child he sponsored from Ecuador for 14 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sally Ann Sincavage; a brother, Steve Oros; a sister, Francis Sidoti; and his parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 7th, at Our Lady of Peace, Mount Carmel Church, 1200 E. 21st St., Ashtabula. Fr. Ernesto Rodriguez will preside. Burial will be at Ridgeview Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, Sept. 6th, at DUCRO FUNERAL SERVICES AND CREMATORY, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula.
