CONNEAUT — Carl E. Finlaw, age 80, of Conneaut, Ohio, passed away Sunday afternoon, Nov. 10, 2013, at his home.
Born June 26, 1933, in Burton, Ohio, he was the son of Joseph and Marie (Davis) Finlaw.
Carl was a self-employed painter and was also employed as a painter in the maintenance department at the U.S. Air Force base in Vienna, Ohio, for 27 years.
His life was centered on his family, and his faith and ministry serving the Lord. A member of the New Apostolic Church, Carl served as minister and pastor of the Warren congregation from 1972 to 1999.
Survivors include his wife, Naomi J. (Skelton) Finlaw, whom he married April 10, 1954; their children, Sarah Beth (Robert) Norris of Buffalo, N.Y., Susanna Finlaw of Columbus, Ohio, and John Carl (Claudia) Finlaw of Brookfield, Ohio; his sister, Patricia (Galen) Taylor of Canton, Ohio; his brother, Roger Finlaw of Conneaut, Ohio; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and more distant relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, David William Finlaw; three brothers, Phillip Ray Finlaw, Ralph Finlaw and Gordon Finlaw; his sister, Georgia Ely; and a grandson, Carl David Finlaw.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 16th, at the New Apostolic Church, 5802 Cemetery Road, Kingsville, Ohio.
Calling hours will be at the Church on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of the Service at 1 p.m.
For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to the New Apostolic Church World Relief Fund. Envelopes will be available at the Church or at the MARCY FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION CENTER, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, Ohio, which has charge of arrangements.
