Medford, Ore. — Julie Reinhart Beard, age 77, of Medford, Ore., formerly of Ashtabula, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013, from a three year battle with Alzheimer disease.
Julie was born in Chicago, Ill., on Nov. 19, 1935, to Julius Valentine and Margaret Hoglund Reinhart. She graduated from high school in Ashtabula, Ohio, and later became an X-Ray Technician.
Julie eventually moved to Palm Springs, Calif., where she worked as head of the X-Ray Department. She also worked in Ridgecrest and Bellflower, Calif.
She married Barrett Lee Beard on August 16, 1968, and later moved to Hemet, Calif., then settled in Ontario, Calif. In 2001, Julie and Barry moved to Medford, Ore.
Julie was an expert seamstress, loved to bake and garden, which included tending to numerous fruit trees. She was also fond of keeping this earth green by recycling—even before it became popular. She often referred to herself as a “straw boss” and that she was.
She is survived by her husband, Barrett Lee Beard; and three children, James K. Beard, 49, and daughter-in-law Sunshine Beard from Medford, Ore., Bernice Meg Beard, 44, and son-in-law Ralph J. Armbruster from Santa Barbara,Calif., and step-son, Kenneth Beard. Julie is also survived by 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
