JEFFERSON — Frances Prochko, age 95, of Netcher Road, Jefferson, Ohio, died Sunday afternoon, Nov. 3, 2013, at Jefferson Healthcare Center.
Born Feb. 27, 1918, in Wimber, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Fred and Mary (Saylor) Swearman and was a graduate of Heidelberg College. Frances moved to this area in 1943 from Western Ohio. In December of 1945, she married Michael Prochko Sr. in Ashtabula, Ohio.
Frances worked as a teacher for the Ashtabula Country Joint Vocational School until her retirement in 1980.
She was a member of the Jefferson United Methodist Church, Jefferson Grange, a member of the Grottoettes and a member of Jefferson Eastern Star. She also loved to read and play cards.
She is survived by her children, Michael (Kay) Prochko Jr. of Jefferson, Timothy J. Prochko of Lindenwold, N.J., and Debra K. McGowan of Cincinnati; brother, Jack Swearman of Monrovia, Md.; and three grandchildren, Steve Prochko, Mark Prochko and John McGowan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Prochko Sr. (2001); and brother, Thomas Swearman.
Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 8th, at the Jefferson Home of FLEMING & BILLMAN FUNERAL DIRECTORS AND CREMATORY, INC., 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, with the Rev. Dan Bilkert, of the Jefferson United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery.
Calling Hour will be held at the Funeral Home from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the Funeral Service.
