MEDINA — Jack Wallace Ziegler, age 90, of Medina, Ohio and former Ashtabula resident, died Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013, at the Western Reserve Masonic Community in Medina, Ohio.
He was born March 21, 1923, In Pittsburgh, Pa., the son of Henry J. and Ida Ziegler. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the China / Burma / India Theater of Operations.
Jack was the former owner of H. J. Ziegler Heating Company in Ashtabula, Ohio.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge for 65 years and was a 33rd degree member in the Valley of Cleveland Scottish Rite. He was also involved in other Masonic bodies; he was a member of the American Legion; the Blinded Veterans Association and a past member of the BPOE Elks and past president of the Lions Club of Ashtabula and a former member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Ashtabula.
Surviving him are his wife, Mary; two daughters, Susan (John) Bear of Las Vegas, Nev. and Cindy (Theodore) Hollo of Aurora, Ohio; a son, J. Alan (Gretchen) Ziegler of Manlius, N.Y.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Harry.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, Nov. 15th, at 11 a.m., at the Western Reserve Masonic Retirement Community, 4931 Nettleton Road, Medina, Ohio, with the Rev. Neal Sadler, of United Church of Christ Congregational in Medina, officiating. Inurnment will follow at 2:30 p.m., Friday, at the Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Road, Seville, Ohio.
