CONNEAUT — Kathleen “Kathe” M. Bailey, age 50, of Conneaut, Ohio, died unexpectedly Friday morning, Oct. 4, 2013, at her home.
She was born Sept. 30, 1963, in Ashtabula, Ohio, and was the daughter of Encil B. and Barbara (Hise) Bailey.
Kathe attended the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and was formerly employed as a dispatcher with the Conneaut Police Department. She served as layout director for the former HomeTown News, was manager of a number of Ashtabula County hotels as well as big hotels in Cleveland/Akron/Canton, Pittsburgh, Pa. and Wheeling, W.Va. She was certified and tested as a Hotel Administrator as well as a Hospitality Service Instructor by the American Hotel and Lodging Association. She was an entrepreneur having several businesses based out of Conneaut that included KBG Consultants, a hospitality consulting firm specializing in niche marketing and social media training; KBG Design, a photography and design studio; and Remember, a souvenir and memorabilia company. She was always day-dreaming about ways to promote the Conneaut area and its fishing.
She was a member of The Rock Christian Fellowship where she was recently baptized.
Kathe was a member of the Ashtabula County Tourism Bureau since 2002, serving as Board President in 2010, 2011, and 2012, and also as grant-writer. She was also a member of the Conneaut Rotary Club. She was a person of many talents and interests and enjoyed photography. She dearly loved her feline “children” Opie, Maggie and Sinatra.
Survivors include her three brothers, Chad (Carrie) Bailey, E. Scott Bailey, and Dave Niede, all of Conneaut, Ohio; nieces, Sarah and Cloey Bailey, Megan; nephew, Zachary; and a great-nephew, Levi.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Anagnosti Grammatas; and aunt and uncles, Beverly Hise, Robert Hise and James Hise.
Visitation will be on Saturday, Oct. 12th, from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m., at which time a Memorial Service will take place at The Rock Christian Fellowship, 256 1/2 Liberty St., Conneaut, with the Rev. James Friend officiating. A Memorial dinner will follow the Service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Conneaut Firefighters Association Local #651 or The Rock Christian Fellowship. Envelopes will be available at the Church or at MARCY FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION CENTER, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, which has charge of arrangements.
