WILLOUGHBY — Elizabeth “Libby” Kukkola, formerly of Conneaut, Ohio, died Friday, Sept. 13, 2013, at Fairmont Health Center in Willoughby, Ohio. She had made her home at the Breckenridge Village in Willoughby since 1995.
Born in Fulton, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late John and Olga Kukkola. She was a graduate of Ashtabula Harbor High School and Dyke School of Commerce in Cleveland.
Libby was employed as Executive Secretary to President John Breen at the Sherwin-Williams Company in Cleveland from 1941 to 1985.
She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, a professional secretary sorority, and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Conneaut.
While living in Conneaut, Libby established the Elizabeth Kukkola Scholarship Fund at the Conneaut High School and provided funds for a printing press to be used by students at the former Chestnut Elementary School. She was also instrumental in establishing a fund for the installation of a fountain at the Marine Memorial Park in memory of her sister, Elvi Kukkola. She enjoyed gardening, bowling, walking and tending to her yard.
Libby is survived by her friends and caregivers, Thomas and Lillian Telzrow of Westlake, Ohio.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Elvi Kukkola in 1991.
Graveside Services will be in Center Cemetery, Conneaut, at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 28th, with the Rev. Franklin J. Gore, pastor of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, officiating.
