Anneliese E. Johnson

ASHTABULA — Anneliese Elfrieda Johnson, age 84, passed away Sunday, Sept. 1, 2013, in the Ashtabula County Medical Center Hospice Unit.

The daughter of August and Ida (Steffer) Bethke, she was born on April 5, 1929, in Duesburg, Germany. At the young age of eighteen, she immigrated to the United States.

On March 19, 1966, she married David Johnson and they have celebrated forty-eight years of love, laughter and memories. She and David owned and operated Johnson’s Janitorial Service for 45 years. They established themselves as hard-working and conscientious, earning them many loyal customers over the years.

Always strong of faith, Anneliese enjoyed Monday night Bible study with her close friends.

A woman of many interests and talents, she enjoyed her membership in the Ashtabula German Club, dancing, and going to the Westside Market in Cleveland for genuine authentic German food. Never one to turn down a chance find a bargain, Anneliese enjoyed garage sales, crafting, and her trips to the casinos to play the slots. A dedicated Republican, she enjoyed watching Fox news and commenting on the politics of the day.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, David; four children, Carol (Bill) Lovas of Ashtabula, Diane (Jeff) Booth of Webster City, Iowa, Mark of Ashtabula, and Brad (Tami) Johnson of Ashtabula; five grandchildren, Dawn (Ryan) Cochran, D.J. and Kyle Christenson, and Anthony “AJ” and Brittany Booth; three great-grandchildren, Taylor, Aryn and Paden Cochran; and her “adopted” son, James A. Heade, whom she helped raise since the age of 12 and his son, Ayden.

Calling Hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 4th, at ZABACK-WILLIAMS-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICE, 500 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula.

A Memorial Service will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 5th, at Messiah Lutheran Church, 615 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula with the Rev. Dr. Michael Meranda, Pastor officiating. A private burial will take place at Ridgeview Cemetery prior to the service.
