Dennis G. Manyo

MENTOR — Dennis G. Manyo, age 64, died Saturday, August 17, 2013, at home as a result of natural causes.

Born June 18, 1949, in Ashtabula, Ohio, he was the oldest of five children, born to Nicholas G. Manyo II and Phyllis A. Lapham.

Dennis graduated from Edgewood Sr. High School in 1967, later marrying his high school sweetheart Kathleen L. Whiting in 1973 at which time they relocated to Los Angeles, Calif., Marina Del Rey, where he worked as a shirt salesman for the Roland Co. - these were the happiest days of his life and when he was able to purchase his dream, a Mercedes Benz.

Dennis loved little convertible sport cars and had many over his life time, once meeting Kenny Chesney at a gas station in Austinburg who commented “That sure is a pretty little sports car”. Dennis was well known in downtown Ashtabula as a buyer for The Globe Bell Inc. He had a passion for fine men’s clothing, looking good and making others look good too. Prior to his retirement in 2011, he worked for Nordstrom's and Dillards’ at Beachwood Place in the Men’s suit department.

Dennis is survived by his wife of 39 years who he loved more than life itself, Kathleen L. Whiting  Manyo; his mother, Phyllis A. Manyo of Ashtabula; brothers, Michael D. (Patricia) Manyo and Nicholas G. (Bonnie) Manyo III, both of Ashtabula; sisters, Janet K. (Jeffrey) Maille of North Kingsville and Renee J. (John) Fusco of Ashtabula; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Nicholas G. Manyo II in 1968, at which time Dennis became the families Patriarch.

Dennis will be sadly missed and fondly remembered for his free spirit.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m., Saturday, August 24th, at Our Lady of Peace Parish, St. Joseph Church, Lake Ave., Ashtabula, with Rev. Raymond Thomas presiding.

No calling hours will be observed. At his request, internment will be in the Pacific Ocean at a time convenient of his immediate family.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Animal Protective League in memory of his second love, “Abigail.” DUCRO FUNERAL SERVICES AND CREMATORY, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula is handling the arrangements.
