EAST SPRINGFIELD, Pa. — Warren “Sheny” D. Bort, age 77, of East Springfield, Pa., was called home on Sunday evening, March 23, 2014, at his home surrounded by his family.

Warren was born in West Springfield, Pa., on Feb. 1, 1937, the son of the late Donald H. Bort and Dorothy (Rounds)  Rutherford.

He retired from the Erie Forge and Steel where he worked as a Machinist for many years and previously worked at the Girard Model Works.

He was a member of the Federated Church in East Springfield.

Warren known to many as “Sheny” enjoyed life to the fullest. He was a member of the Conneaut Moose Lodge #408, the Girard American Legion, and the West Springfield VFW Post #4965.

He enjoyed hunting, gardening, camping; was an avid sports fan of the Brown and Indians; and enjoyed traveling with his wife, Myra.

Besides his parents, Warren was preceded in death by three brothers.

Warren is survived by his wife, Myra J. (Van Tassel) Bort, whom he married on Jan. 7, 1956. He is also survived by two  daughters, Vicki M. Armstrong and her husband, Raymond, of Albion, Pa., and Holly K. Fails and her husband, Bill, of Girard, Pa.; and a son, Robert L. Bort and his wife, Judy, of East Springfield, Pa. He is further survived by two sisters and two brothers, Chris Fredrickson and her husband, Bill, of Washington and Jackie Hatmaker and her husband, Tom, of Ashtabula, Ohio, Terry Bort of Kingsville, Ohio, and Ted Bort of Texas. He is also survived by seven wonderful grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Friends and family are invited to call at the JEAN EVANS THOMPSON FUNERAL HOME at 11883 Main St., East Springfield, Pa., on Thursday, March 27th, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend Life Celebration Services there on Friday, March 28th, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Ed Huntley, of the Federated Church, officiating. Burial will be in Springfield Cemetery.
