HARTSGROVE — Ernest Mitchell McDaniel passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2014, at his home surrounded by his family. He was a resident of Hartsgrove.
Ernest was born May 5, 1948, in Palmer, Tenn., to the late, Charles and Joyce (nee Bess) McDaniel. He was a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran and a Purple Heart recipient.
He retired from BF Goodrich, where he worked as a machinist. He loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. Ernest was a quiet, giving and selfless and loved doing things for others.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Dolores (nee Alioto); children, Charles McDaniel of Rome and Lynnette (husband Clint) Stollard of Montville; grandchildren, Samuel and Allison Stollard; and brothers, Tim (wife Beverly) McDaniel of Eastlake and Dwayne McDaniel of Tennessee. He was a dear nephew, brother-in-law, uncle and great-uncle to many.
Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Ernest from 2 to 6 p.m., Sunday, at THE DeJOHN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY of Chardon (formerly Ritondaro), 126 South St. (Rt. 44, south of Rt. 6/Chardon Square).
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11 a.m., Monday, March 24th, at the Funeral Home. Burial with Military Honors will follow in All Souls Cemetery.
Family suggest contributions be made in Ernest’s memory to Hospice of the Western Reserve.
