James A. Rennick

ASHTABULA — James A. Rennick, age 81, of Ashtabula, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, on Monday, March 10, 2014, at the Ashtabula County Medical Center.

Jim was born in Ashtabula, Ohio, on June 17, 1932, the son of the late James Patterson and Elsie (Erickson) Rennick and had been a lifelong area resident. He graduated from Harbor High School, where he excelled in track and football. After high school, Jim served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1951-1955. During his tenure in the Navy, he served on the Presidential Yacht under the direction of Presidents, Harry S. Truman and Dwight D. Eisenhower.

Mr. Rennick married the love of his life, Patricia Ann Fordham, on Nov. 21, 1953. A very active man, he served as an athletic trainer for Ashtabula and Harbor High Schools’ Football teams for over 25 years. Jim retired from Reliance Electric in 1988 after 35 years of service to the company, while he also ran a masso-therapy practice in his home. After retiring from Reliance, he worked at Miller Outpatient and Physical Therapy, and then worked for a few years for Dr. Namey.

As if work was not enough for Jim, he also coached little league while his kids grew up. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, where he taught Sunday School. He was a member of the American Legion, and ran Camp Luther for many years. But most of all, Jim loved spending time with his family and friends.

Jim leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 60 years, Patricia; children, Jacquelyn Michelle (Robert Post) Calderone of Lithopolis, Ohio, James Marshall (Debbie Kimball) Rennick of Somerset, Ohio, Paul William (Janice) Rennick of Wheelersburg, Ohio, Joy Annette (Matthew) Henry of Ashtabula, David Christopher Rennick of Geneva-on-the-Lake and Erik Daniel Rennick of Scottsdale, Ariz.; sisters, Carol (Rex) Asten of Pennsylvania, and Jackie (Jim) McKee of Florida; grandchildren, Joshua Calderone, Michael Rennick, Justin Rennick, Mark, Heather and Kristen Gargon, and Jessica Rennick; and eight great-grandchildren.
