Sheila M. Kirk

ASHTABULA — Sheila Mae Kirk, age 54, died Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at the Ashtabula County Medical Center Hospice Unit after a courageous battle with cancer.

The daughter of Loren and Velma (Deems) Starcher, she was born on March 19, 1959, in Clay, W.Va., and came to the Ashtabula County area as a young child.

On August 12, 1976, she married her husband Rodney Kirk and together they celebrated thirty-six years of marriage.

Sheila enjoyed shopping, flower gardening and cooking; her family looked forward to eating her famous macaroni and cheese. A volunteer at G.O. Ministries for many years, she enjoyed serving her community.

Sheila had a very large collection of sun catchers, all in various shapes of the sun. She also had special place in her heart for her dog, “Coco”; her cats, “Badger, Stanley and Baby Oreo”; and her lizard, “Gator”.

Sheila was a person who could find the best in everyone and everything. She never let her illness define her life. A wonderful daughter, wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, she will be remembered for her encouraging ways and her love of family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Rodney Kirk, her children, Sabrina, Andrew and Alex, and her granddaughter, Samerra, all of Ashtabula; her parents, Loren and Velma Deems; her siblings, Charlotte and Robin Hoefert, Sharon Wetherbee, Shelley and Steven Spring, Patricia Griggs, Lisa and Danny Eden, and Randy and Diane Starcher, also of Ashtabula; and many nieces and nephews.

It was Sheila’s wish that no calling hours or services be observed.

DUCRO FUNERAL SERVICES AND CREMATORY, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula, Ohio, is in charge of arrangements. Obituary and condolences at www.ducro.com and starbeacon.com.
