SAYBROOK TOWNSHIP — Grace E. Dieffenbacher, age 93, was born Sept. 20, 1919, in Franklin, Pa. and was reborn on Wednesday, May 15, 2013, in Saybrook Township, Ohio. Her parents were David C. and Flossie (Graham) Small and had lived in Saybrook most of her life.
She had worked in the cafeteria at Saybrook Elementary School and also as Secretary at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church for thirteen years until her retirement.
She was an active member of Saybrook United Methodist Church where she was in the Wesleyan Circle and the Morning Glory Circle. For many years, she was a member of the Saybrook Township Auxiliary Fire Department.
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, embroidery, gardening, camping, traveling but most of all, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving her are two sons, Alan L. (Yvonne) Dieffenbacher of Saybrook Township and William E. (Linda) Dieffenbacher of Ashtabula; five grandchildren, Aimee (David) Gilbert, Joshua Dieffenbacher, Bryant (Emily) Dieffenbacher, Bradley Dieffenbacher and Benjamin Dieffenbacher; two step-grandchildren, Jeffery Fenner and Holly Ginnis; two great-grandchildren, Tristen and Teagan; and six step-great-grandchildren, Jacob, Bethany, Tay, Cody, Peter and Randy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Albert in 1976; a son, James in 2009; five sisters, Veda Sisney, Daisy Whalen, Agnes Myers, Glenna Murphy and Virginia Donaldson; and a brother, Donald C. Small.
Funeral Service will be 11 a.m., Monday, May 20th, at Saybrook United Methodist Church, 7900 Depot Road, Saybrook Township, with the Rev. Jeff Stoll officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville.
Calling Hours will be from 3 to 5 p.m., Sunday, May 19th, at the Ashtabula Home of FLEMING & BILLMAN FUNERAL DIRECTORS, 526 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula, Ohio.
