LAKELAND, Fla. — Cynthia A. “Cindy” Beckwith, age 63, of Charolais Dr., Lakeland, Fla. and former Jefferson and Ashtabula resident, died late Thursday afternoon, May 9, 2013, at her residence following complications with lung cancer.

She was born June 14, 1949, in Ashtabula, the daughter of Eldon G. and Frances M. (Sleeper) Roberts and resided in this area for 39 years before moving to Florida in 1988. She was a 1967 graduate of Jefferson Area High School and earned an associate degree in 1993 from Southern Career Institute in Boca Raton, Fla. She worked for 10 years at Laird Lumber in Jefferson and then 10 years at Society National Bank in Ashtabula, then spent 22 years with Lockheed Martin in Lakeland, Fla., before retiring in 2011.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church at the Mall in Lakeland, Fla. and the Credit Women International.  She was a former member of the First Baptist Church in Jefferson where she was very involved, playing the piano and organ, in the choir, leading the children’s choir and musicals, teaching Sunday school and Bible school and was the softball team statistician. She was the 2012-13 secretary for the Ashtabula Co. Reunion held in Eustis, Fla. and loved music, gardening and being the caretaker for her parents.

She is survived by her mother, Frances M. Roberts of Lakeland, Fla.; a son, Scott B. Rippons and his finance’, Melanie Browne and her son, Philip, all of Boca Raton, Fla.

Her father, Eldon Roberts preceded her in death.

Graveside Services will be held 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 15th, in Oakdale Cemetery, with Pastor Ed Pickard, of Dorset Baptist Church, officiating. No calling hours will be observed.
