GENEVA — Matthew A. German, age 50, of Harpersfield, Ohio, passed away at UH-Memorial Hospital of Geneva on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013.
He was born on March 13, 1963, in Garfield Heights, Ohio, the son of Martin A. German Sr. and Patricia Ann (Harrison). He married Trudy Gruber on Oct. 22, 2010. Matthew attended St. John’s Lutheran Church in Geneva. A loving husband, he enjoyed nights out dancing with his wife Trudy. Matt was a proud grandpa and always enjoyed the time he spent with his family.
An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. Matt was a talented hardworking man who enjoyed working with heavy equipment around the family farm in Harpersfield.
He is survived by his wife, Trudy of Harpersfield; son, Tony German of Solon; daughter, Kristina German of Ravenna; step-daughter, Katie Maroni of Solon; step-sons, Shawn (Angie) Gruber of Austinburg and Jody (Michelle) Gruber of Geneva; grandchildren, Brenton, Kylee, Kendra, Adam, Emily, Ben and Katlyn; mother, Pat German of Ft. Myers Beach, Fla.; grandmother, Helen German of Garfield Heights; brothers, Martin “Skip” (Michelle) German Jr. of Spencer, Mass., and Michael J. (Gia) German Sr. of Barre, Mass.; sister, Monica German of Garfield Heights, Ohio; and his loyal 4-legged friend “Diesel”.
He was preceded in death by his father and grandfather.
Friends will be received 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 7th, at THE BEHM FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 175 S. Broadway, Geneva, Ohio 44041.
Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 8th, at the Funeral Home. Matt’s brother-in-law, Pastor Jonathan C. Schroeder, of St. John’s Lutheran Church, will officiate the service.
