ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. — Donald J. Weiss was born on Jan. 6, 1931, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Camile and Alice (née: Mathson) Weiss. He died Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013, in Arlington Heights.
Mr. Weiss worked as an accounting manager for AT&T from 1954-1987 and was a member of the AT&T Pioneers.
He was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity at Ohio University in Athens. He joined the ROTC, and was honorably discharged as first lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force, where he served 18 months in Germany.
His hobbies included football, baseball, hockey and basketball. He was a "Mr. Fix-It" and enjoyed listening to music, especially Italian.
Donald is survived by his spouse of 60 years, Joycelyn (née: Laveck) Weiss, whom he married on August 22, 1953, in Ashtabula, Ohio; his daughters, Sharlene (Terry) Landis and Kimberly Weiss; his brothers, Ronald J. (Jean) Weiss and Thomas J. (Diane) Weiss; his niece, Amy Brown; and his nephews, John Weiss and Stephen Weiss.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his niece, Tracy; and his nephew, David.
