GENEVA — Donald Marquis, age 86, of Madison, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Friday, Oct. 12, 2012, at University Hospital in Geneva.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Bernice; stepchildren, Joyce (Al) Perry of Evansville, Ind., and Robin Matteson of Beaufort, S.C.; and his grandsons, Chris and John Perry, Aaron and Tyson Rayburn and Cory Matteson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sydney and Daisy (Smith) Marquis; a brother, Sydney; his first wife, Ginger; and his stepdaughter, Linda Price.
Don had an interesting and varied career working for several manufacturing companies in the Cleveland area. He retired from the Eaton Corporation where he worked on prototype machines for assembly lines. He also owned and operated the Chapeldale Ace Hardware Store in Madison for many years.
Don could fix anything and was always tinkering at something, and he always had a project to work on. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed tending his yard and vegetable garden. He and Bernice “Bea” traveled for years on their motorcycle and later in their motor home. He particularly liked Arizona and the Southwest.
He loved animals and always had a dog. His dog, Penny, will miss her master. He will be missed by his wife and family, who find peace and comfort in the many memories they shared.
