ASHTABULA — Ronald E. Clutter, age 55, of Garrison Road, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at Ashtabula County Medical Center.
He was born April 15, 1958, in Ashtabula, the son of Robert and Gloria (Lucas) Clutter and had been a lifelong Ashtabula resident.
A 1977 graduate of Ashtabula High School, he worked many years for Perfection Corp in Geneva and the past two years as a fabricator for Arthur Louis Steel in Ashtabula.
He married the love of his life, Janice (Hoyle) on March 4, 1978 and established himself as a great husband and father and wonderful provider for his family. The handiest of people, he could fix anything and his family relied on him to do so.
An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, trapping, and more recently fishing on his son Andy’s boat. He was overjoyed last fall to have acquired a cabin in Emporium, Pa. that he was fixing up to spend time close to the Elk preserve.
Ron had attended Grace Gospel Church and was a member of the Boilermakers Union Local #151, the North American Trapping Association, and formerly the Coon Hunters Club.
Times with his family meant the most to him. A meal at Geneva-on-the-Lake with them could only be topped by a day spoiling the grandkids with rides on the Whoop Buggy four-wheeler or showing them how to make maple sugar or apple butter. Regardless of his circumstance, he was always smiling and kept a positive outlook on life.
His survivors include his wife of 35 years, Janice; two sons, Benjamin (Marissa) Clutter of Perry and Andrew (Theresa) Clutter of Ashtabula; four grandchildren, Aidan, Chase, Asher and Erica; his special friend who he considered his adopted son, Andy (Tawnya) Housel of Ashtabula; his mother, Gloria Funke of Ashtabula; his step-mother, Jenny Clutter of Geneva; two sisters, Jenny Urch of Ashtabula and Lori Waldron of California; two half-sisters, Tina Starcher of Jefferson and Lisa Haytcher of Ashtabula; two half-brothers, Jim Funke of Ashtabula and Steve Clutter of Cleveland; and his “adopted” parents, Bev (deceased husband Gilbert “Gib”) Seymour, who helped raise him since he was a kid.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Clutter; and his step-father, James Funke.
Calling Hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., Monday, May 20th, at ZABACK-WILLIAMS-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 500 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula.
A Service will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 21st, at the Funeral Home, with Pastor David Adams, of Grace Gospel Church officiating.
Contributions may be made to the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, 5705 Grant Creek, Missoula, Mont. 59808.
