ASHEVILLE, N.C. — Eileen Pfeiffer Perrin, age 86, of Asheville, N.C., passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2013, at the CarePartners Hospice Center.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Raymond A. Perrin Jr.; and daughter, Kathleen Southard and son-in-law, Brian Southard of Loudon, Tenn.
Eileen met Ray in seventh grade science class at Platt R. Spencer School. They reconnected in 1949 and were married in Detroit in 1951, moved to Illinois in 1953, and lived in the Chicago area for 34 years. In 1987, Eileen and Ray retired to Hendersonville, N.C. – a place they remembered from their honeymoon drive to Florida. In July, 2005, they moved to Givens Estates Retirement Community in Asheville.
A Detroit native, Eileen was the daughter of the late George and Doris Pfeiffer. She lived in Geneva from 1938 - 1943. She graduated from Geneva High School, attended Ohio Wesleyan University, and received a degree in Retail Merchandising from Ohio State University in 1947. Eileen was a full-time mom after Kathleen was born, then received her teaching certificate and taught elementary school.
Eileen loved and was active in her church. She traveled with Ray extensively throughout the world and was always planning her next trip. She loved to study and learn; needlework, sewing and knitting; gardening, and reading. Most of all, she loved being with her family and many friends.
Eileen’s internment will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery on Tuesday, May 7th, at 10:00 a.m., at a private graveside service conducted by the Rev. Bruce Hitchcock at the Perrin family plot.
