Donald D. Chah

JEFFERSON — Donald D Chah, age 85, died on Saturday, March 23, 2013, at Austinburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born in Cleveland on August 17, 1927, the son of Joseph and Barbara (Penhofer) Chah. Donald was married to Dolores (Hintz) Chah on Oct. 3, 1953. He was U.S. Army Veteran serving two tours of duty. While in the Army, he served as a Medic stationed in Tokyo in the Engineers Department receiving a W.W. II Victory Medal and served in the Korean War.

After his military service, he worked for Nassief Motors then went on to establish the partnership of Skidmore & Chah. He retired from the excavation and construction business at the age of 70.

He was also affiliated with Sacred Heart Church in Rock Creek and was a trustee for Rock Creek Public Library for almost 50 years.

Survivors include his daughter, Catherine Chah-Gillespie of Jefferson; son, Robert (Karen) Chah of Las Vegas; brother, David (Shirley Allio) Chah of Jefferson; grandchildren, Brandy Chah of Willoughby, Joseph and Daniel Gillespie of Jefferson, Brandy (Robyn) Russell of Tennessee and Mindy (Seth) White of Nevada; and great-grandchildren, Malachai and Micah Vallejo of Tennessee and Seth and Sierra White of Nevada.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores “Dolly” in 1996; his parents; sister, Barbara; and a brother, Charles in infancy.

Calling Hours will be held from 5 to 6:45 p.m., Tuesday, at First Baptist Church of Jefferson, 85 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, Ohio.

A Prayer Service will follow at 7 p.m., Tuesday, and concluded with U.S. Army Military Honors. A private burial with take place at the Rock Creek Union Cemetery.

At the family’s request, memorial contributions may be made to Rock Creek Public Library, 2988 High St., Rock Creek, Ohio 44084, envelopes will be available at the church. Arrangements by PAINE-GUERRIERO FUNERAL HOME, Orwell, Ohio.
