Mary Arlene Richards, age 88, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 8, 2014, at The Villa At The Lake in Conneaut, Ohio, after a brief illness.
Born June 6, 1926, in Conneaut, to Norman H. and Ruth (Randall) Ball, she was a local resident her entire life. She married Roy E. Richards in 1946.
At one time in her life, she worked for Singer Sewing Company as a sales and repair person. She later became a cashier at the former Loblaw Store (now Conneaut Human Resources Center) and then became the head cashier until the store closed.
Mary enjoyed crafts of all kinds and did many paintings that will be enjoyed for many years by her family. She was a member of the Gageville United Methodist Church, a former member of the 55 Alive Club, the Sheffield Grange, and the Autumn Leaves at the Conneaut Church of Christ.
She is survived by her sons, Ron (Marie) Richards of Conneaut and Gary (Sue) Richards of Lorain, Ohio; a daughter-in-law, Mary K. Richards of Jefferson, Ohio; a brother, Bob (Jan) Ball of Kingsville, Ohio; five grandchildren, Holly Richards of Zanesville, Ohio, Cheri (Rob) Schoonmaker of Toledo, Ohio, Mark (Mandy) Richards of Jefferson, Ohio, Eric (Cindy) Richards of Wadsworth, Ohio and Natalie (Jason) Sesler of Streetsboro, Ohio; several great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, George Richards; a sister-in-law, Millie Richards; and several nieces, nephews and more distant relatives.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roy E. Richards; brother, William Ball; sister, Norma Mickel; and a son, James T. Richards.
Calling Hours will be on Wednesday, June 11th, from 10 a.m. until Noon, at MARCY FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION CENTER, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, followed by the Funeral Service at Noon, with Tim Kraus, of the Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville, Ohio.
