The son of Ira D. and Margaret E. (Mayo) Oxley, he was born on Oct. 19, 1936, in Linesville, Pa.
A Veteran, he joined the United States Army and retired after twenty years of honorable service to his country. After his retirement, he and his wife, Zita, remained in Germany until 2003. Wanting to be closer to his family, he returned to the United States and settled in the Ashtabula Area.
On June 27, 1962, Ed married his beautiful bride Zita Gopfert and they would have celebrated fifty-two years of love and memories.
While living in Germany, Ed was an active member of VFW Post #10436 of Kitzingen, Germany. After their return to the United States, Ed joined VFW Post #943 and the American Legion, Dewey-Howlett Post #103. Ed was a true patriot; he loved his country and his fellow military with pride.
A wonderful baker, friends and family looked forward to receiving his goods, especially his pepperoni rolls. While in Germany Ed and Zita belonged to a Wanderer’s Club, and together they walked all over Germany.
Although they never had children, Ed and Zita gave great amounts of love to their nieces and nephews. The holidays brought great delight to Ed, his house was over the top. You could never have too many lights.
