ROCK CREEK — Brian Eric Forthman, age 49, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at his home.

The beloved son of Richard E. and Marilyn K. (Phelps) Forthman, he was born on Dec. 4, 1963, in Ashtabula and had remained a lifelong Ashtabula County resident. Brian was a graduate of Grand Valley High School class of 1982.

A member of Rock Creek Faith Community Church, Brian enjoyed sharing his love of Christ with the members of his church. He received great enjoyment from belonging to the men’s group of the church.

Brian never met a stranger; he could make friends with anybody, anytime and anywhere. He loved to talk to people and had a great amount of knowledge on many subjects. If the machinery needed repair; he was the person to do that. Brian learned much of his skills from being with his dad, Richard and being employed with the J.E. Andrews Company. Always up for a road trip, he enjoyed taking the roundabout way to get there; looking for new sites to see, and on occasion arriving a little late at his destination. Brian enjoyed watching Jeopardy and trying to guess the answers before his mom, Marilyn.

Brian continues his life by giving the gift of life through organ and tissue donation.

Brian will be remembered for his work ethic, and his gift of gab.

He is survived by his mother, Marilyn K. Forthman; and his sister, Valerie Forthman, both of Rock Creek; and his many acquaintances he met while on his life journey.

Brian was preceded in death by his father, Richard E. Forthman; his brother, Ricky L. Forthman; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, July 27th, at the Rock Creek Faith Community Church, 5835 State Route 166, Rock Creek, Ohio, with the Rev. Brian Wright, Pastor officiating. A fellowship dinner will follow the Service.

If desired, contributions may be made to the family. DUCRO FUNERAL SERVICES AND CREMATORY, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula is in charge of arrangements.
