ASHTABULA — Marilyn A. “Mitzie” Paulchel, age 82, a lifetime resident of Ashtabula, Ohio, passed away on Friday, July 5, 2013, at the home of her daughter in North Royalton, Ohio, after a long battle with recurrent cholangiocarcinoma.
She was born on April 13, 1931, in Ashtabula, to Walter and Mary (Kuula) Beckman. She and her four siblings were raised by their father with the help of their late Aunt Tibby (Korkate), after losing their mother to appendicitis when Mitzie was only four years old.
Mitzie was a homemaker who enjoyed walking, traveling, gardening, reading, and was a beautiful seamstress.
She was a selfless and loving mother to Ron Paulchel (Terre) of Columbus and Justine Dionisopoulos (Michael) of North Royalton. She adored and was cherished by her three grandchildren, Channing, Fallyn and Connor Dionisopoulos of North Royalton.
Mitzie was married to the love of her life, Philip Paulchel, who passed away from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) just 10 days prior to their 49th wedding anniversary.
She is survived by her sister, Ruth DiDonato (Dan) of Ashtabula; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Walter Beckman (Ruth) of Pennsylvania; and sisters, Arlene Sposito (Donald) of Ashtabula and Dorothy Glynn (Ray) of Oregon.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 15th, at Mother of Sorrows Parish, 1464 West 6th St., Ashtabula.
