GENEVA-ON-THE-LAKE — Edward Glenn Cowling, age 84, of Thomas Blvd., passed away Thursday, May 9, 2013, at Hospice of the Western Reserve, Cleveland.
He was born Dec. 15, 1928, in Cleveland, the son of Fred G. and Hattie (Schroeder) Cowling and had been an area resident since 1991. A Veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during World War II.
He attended John Hay High School in Cleveland and had worked as a security guard for General Electric.
A quiet and reserved man, he enjoyed the simple things in life such as reading the paper, watching TV (Murder She Wrote was his favorite) and fishing.
His survivors include two granddaughters, Christy (David) Maxwell of Cleveland and Michelle Dickerson of Lakewood; and two great-grandsons, Willie and Areon Cowling.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Arline (McWilliams) Cowling; daughter, Carol McWilliams; two sons, Charles Boyle and Edward F. Cowling; and his parents.
A Graveside Service was held 11 a.m., Friday, May 17th, at Maplewood Cemetery, 5195 Maplewood Drive, Geneva, with full Military Honors provided by the Geneva VFW, Post #6846.
No calling hours will be observed.
