LENOX TOWNSHIP — Gordon J. Richards, age 80, of St. Rt. 46 South, Lenox Township, died Thursday evening, May 9, 2013, at UHHS-Cleveland following an extended illness.
He was born March 8, 1933, in Brooklyn, N.Y., the son of the late Cecil and Ursula I. (Leggo) Richards and had been a resident of this area most of his life. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, serving during the Korean Conflict. Gordon was married to Frances R. “Fran” Baker on July 24, 1971, at the Austinburg First United Church of Christ.
Mr. Richards is a 1987 retiree of Reliance Electric Corp. and had worked security the past 30 years for Don & Henrietta King in Windsor Township. He was a member of the Austinburg First United Church of Christ. He enjoyed fishing, camping, his motorcycle trike and miniature horses. He loved to spoil his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Fran; three children, Jay T. Richards of Conneaut Lake, Pa., Christopher S. Richards of Richwood, W.Va. and Jodi L. Richards of Jefferson; and seven grandchildren, Douglas, Jarrod, Taylor, Gavin, Christopher Jr., Briana and Briley.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Monday, May 13th, at the Jefferson Home of FLEMING & BILLMAN FUNERAL DIRECTORS, 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson.
A Memorial Service will follow at 7 p.m., Monday, with Alisa Nierzejewski, Certified Celebrant, leading the Service.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Windsor V. F. D. K-9 Search & Rescue Team, 5360 Mayfield Road, Windsor, Ohio 44099, envelopes will also be at the funeral home.
