GENEVA — Frank John Chizmar Sr., age 95, died Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at his home with his loving wife Eleanor at his side.
The son of John and Susan (Harchalk) Chizmar, he was born on Dec. 23, 1917, in Ashtabula and had remained a lifelong area resident.
Frank was a proud Veteran of the United States Army having served during World War II. He was introduced to his wonderful wife, Eleanor by her sister, Bernice. Frank and Eleanor would have celebrated seventy-two years of marriage, on July 23, 2013.
Frank was employed by the Boilermaker’s Union as a welder and worked on many construction projects during his forty-five years of faithful dedication to his job.
After his retirement, Frank had more time to perfect his golf game, along with woodworking, and fishing. There was never a bad day to play golf or to fish, as each one held their own special pleasures for him. Frank was an optimist, he always believed that the Indians would return to the World Series and win. He enjoyed working in his yard and keeping it looking beautiful. A wonderful provider for his family, he loved them and was proud of their accomplishments.
He will be remembered as a wonderful husband, dad, grandpa and great-grandpa; his dedication to his country, his faith, and his family; and his strength and dignity.
He is survived by his loving wife, Eleanor (Lukas) Chizmar of Geneva; his son, Frank Thomas (Carol) Chizmar Jr. of Kent; his daughter, Eleanor (Phillip) Kerosky of Ponta Vedra Beach, Fla.; six grandchildren, Chris (Beth) Chizmar, Jennifer (Lee) Ott, Heather (Scott) Bowman, Glenn (Lori) Peggs, Gail Peggs and Missy (Tim) Hendricks; twelve great-great-grandchildren, and a little one to be here soon; and loving nieces and nephews; and his sister, Marcella Honnen.
