WINDSOR TOWNSHIP —
Andrew Kalister, age 89, of Windsor Township, Ohio, died Friday, May 9, 2014, at Metro Health in Cleveland.
He was born Nov. 24, 1924, in Cleveland, a son of Lukas and Mary (Ivancic) Kalister. During WWII, he served for the U.S. Army as an M-1 Marksman in the Pacific theatre in Japan and the Kwajalein Islands.
Andrew was a machinist at Eaton Axle in Cleveland for 19 years and retired in 1980. He was a lifelong resident of this area; a member of Windsor Vol. Fire Department, and helped with the fish fries. Andrew was a man who enjoyed fixing anything and everything; always busy; and willing to help anyone in need. He loved to travel; went to all 50 States; enjoyed polka music; dancing; woodworking; gardening; hunting; and walking in the woods. He raised honey bees for years and loved his dogs, “Red and Buck.”
He will be missed dearly by his friends and family; his beloved wife of 27 years, Jeanette (Kolb Quinn) Kalister; three children, William (Lynda) Kalister of Windsor, Patricia (Paul) Miller of Bristolville, and Judy (Mark) Collins of Stow; eight step-children; grandchildren, Brian (Allison) Kalister, Kevin (Carrie) Kalister and Ian (Stephanie) Collins; great-grandchildren, Lukas and Blake Kalister, Avery Kalister, and Caleb and Morgan Furr; step-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Mary Louise (Buehner) Kalister; 2nd wife, Gladys (Bryan) Kalister; his parents; and his brothers and sisters, Edward, John, Jenny Kepes, Mary Dempsey, and Mariya Kalister.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 13th, at St. Lucy Catholic Church, 16280 Kinsman Road (Rt. 87), Middlefield. Burial will be at Windsor Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Monday, at RUSSELL FUNERAL SERVICE, 15670 W. High St. (Rt. 87), Middlefield.
