CLEVELAND — Wanda L. “Granny” Sweeney, age 67, of Ashtabula, died Monday, June 10, 2013, at the Cleveland Clinic, after a brief bout with cancer.
Born Oct. 27, 1945, in Pittsylvania, Va., she was the daughter of Melvin and India (Ferguson) Stump.
Granny was a fun loving, happy and gentle woman. She loved to make people laugh, knew no strangers, and treated all with love and respect. Her family was most important to her and she showed it every day and in every way.
Survivors include her son, Bernard Ray “Pete” Sweeney of Chesterfield, Va.; daughter, Donna “Gail” Marrison of Jefferson; grandchildren, James Sweeney, John Marrison, David Sweeney, Tobias Sweeney and Andrea Sweeney; sisters, Lella Davis-Allen, Beatrice Gray and Nancy Hogan; and brothers, Issac “Billy” Stump and David Allen Stump.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Sweeney; twin brother, Wayne Lee Stump; and brothers, Clyde B., Ray W. and Cecil Stump.
We invite her family and friends to her Services. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday June 20th, and Funeral will be 11 a.m., Friday, at GUERRIERO FUNERAL HOME, 1550 W. 19th St., Ashtabula. Funeral Service will be conducted by Pastor Kenneth Roberts of Pentecostal Church of God. Burial will take place in Chestnut Grove Cemetery.
