ASHTABULA — Dale R. “Scotty” Scott, age 80 of Ashtabula, Ohio, died Monday, Dec. 2, 2013, at the Ashtabula County Medical Center.
Born July 5, 1933, in Sharon, Pa., he was the son of Homer F. and Mary (Moore) Scott and a 1952 graduate of Edgewood High School. A Veteran of the Korean Conflict, he served in the U.S. Army as a Corporal and a Tank Commander, being discharge in 1955.
For 35 years, he was a truck driver for Detrex Chemical in Ashtabula until his retirement.
He was a member of VFW Post #943 in Ashtabula; a former member of the Ashtabula Rod and Gun Club; and a member of the Sociable CB’rs. He enjoyed wood working, camping, travel and most of all spending time with his family and friends.
Surviving him are his wife, Suzanne; three sons, Alan (Lila) Scott of Canada, Jeffrey (Deb) Scott of Florida and Jerry Scott of Arizona; a daughter, Becky Scott of Arizona; three step-children, Rajena Woodworth of Ashtabula, John Riser of Indiana and Joseph Gates of Toledo; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Robbie Scott; and a brother, Paul Scott.
Private Services will be at the Greenlawn Memory Gardens Mausoleum with Dewey Howlett American Legion Post #103 conducting Military Rites.
