KINGSVILLE — Helen B. Tenney, age 96, of Brown Road, Saybrook Township, died Friday, April 19, 2013, at Ashtabula County Nursing Home.
She was born May 26, 1916, in Ashtabula, to John and Grace (Wright) Brocklehurst. She had two brothers and a sister. The family moved to Florida when she was 6 years old. She returned to Saybrook Township when her husband, Donald was drafted during World War II.
Helen was a homemaker. She sewed, knitted and tatted clothes for herself and family. She worked as a lunch monitor at Windermere School for several years. She also tied and picked grapes at Markko Vineyards and also packed mushrooms at Horlachers in Saybrook Township.
Helen played the piano for Sunday School and Saybrook United Methodist Church. She also for many years helped make biscuits for the church’s Strawberry Social. She was a member of the Saybrook United Methodist Church and enjoyed fishing, square dancing, feeding the birds and also taking photographs.
Surviving her are three children, Phoebe Tenney of Cuyahoga Falls, Linda Frisbee of Conneaut and Ralph (Florence) Tenney of Ashtabula; family friend, Cathy Derhammer of Cuyahoga Falls; four grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald Tenney in 2010; her grandson, Dennis Frisbee; two brothers, Clinton and Bruce Brocklehurst; and her sister, Marion Mikaill.
Funeral Services will be 11 a.m., Monday, April 22nd, at the Ashtabula Home of FLEMING & BILLMAN FUNERAL DIRECTORS, 526 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula, with the Rev. Jeff Stoll, of Saybrook United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will take place later at Saybrook Township Cemetery.
