ASHTABULA — Alexis Xavier Mook Colon, of Norman Ave., died Monday, Jan. 27, 2014, at his home following a home invasion during which he was tragically shot.
The son of Phillip Mook and Lydia Colon Aviles, he was born the same month and day as his mother, Nov. 24, 1993, in Ashtabula.
Alexis attended the Ashtabula Area City Schools and graduated from East River High School in Orlando, Fla. in 2012. He had attended Valenica College in Florida and was currently enrolled in online classes.
He was currently employed at the Ashtabula Wal-Mart where he was well-liked and appreciated by his co-workers.
Alexis had dreams of one day designing his own video games and loved to use his creative talent to draw. Being the entertainer that he was, he was often known for his silly and goofy nature that always seemed to cheer people up. Known as “Little Bruce Lee” since he was a child, he was active in the art of Tae Kwon Do.
He is survived his father, Phillip Mook; brother, Benny Alexander Mook Colon of Ashtabula; sister, Alexandra Liz Marie “Precious” Colon Mook of Toledo; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lydia Colon Aviles.
Calling Hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 6th, at the Gateway Church, 2300 Austinburg Road, Ashtabula, with a Service to follow at 7 p.m. The Rev. Edward W. Sturgill, affiliate of the Church of God through Cleveland, Tenn., will officiate.
