CLEVELAND — Mary I. (Loveland) Godwin, age 92, passed away Friday, March 7, 2014, in Cleveland.
She was born Oct. 17, 1921, in Thompson, Ohio, and had lived in Geneva before moving to Mayfield Heights 11 years ago.
Mrs. Godwin was a homemaker, a member of Madison Country Club and the first woman Dispatcher for the Highway Patrol in Ashtabula County.
Survivors are her daughter, Paula (Thomas) Sprinzl; step-son, Paul K. (Carol) Godwin Jr.; granddaughter, Heather (Jason) Nightingale; step-grandchildren, David (Amy) Godwin, Robert (Nina) Godwin, Julie Stumpf and Shaun Godwin; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Richard (Jackie) Loveland; sister, Evelyn (William) Turner; and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Godwin was preceded in death by her husband, Paul K.; and brothers and sisters, Dorothy Mattson, Ralph Loveland, Irene Snyder, Mildred, Charles, Floyd, Steven, Virginia, Homer and Clayton “Mike” Loveland, and Joanna Miggo.
Pastor William Alvey, of Bulah-Calvary United Methodist Church, will officiate the Services on Tuesday, March 11th, at 6:30 p.m., at the SCHULTE & MAHON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 5252 Mayfield Road (between Richmond and Brainard Roads), Lyndhurst, where friends may call Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. Private burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Thompson.
