FT. MYERS, Fla. — William E. “Bill” Dolan, age 83, of Ft. Myers, Fla. and formerly of Rock Creek, died on Monday, Sept. 2, 2013, at the Hope Hospice in Ft. Myers.
Bill graduated from Benedictine High School and then followed with time served in the U.S. Navy. He returned home to marry Jean M. Worthington on Sept. 1, 1951, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Cleveland Heights.
His passion to help the public was evident by his years as a milkman. He continued to use his business sense and “customer is always right” mentality throughout his years of owning and operating the Convenience Store in Jefferson, retiring in 1986.
Bill entertained many hobbies, golf, softball, planting flowers, swimming, riding his bike and making sure he said a friendly “hello” to all who surrounded him. He was a former member of the Jefferson Exchange Club, the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and currently a member of the Church of the Resurrection in Ft. Myers, Fla.
In Bill’s later years, he battled with Alzheimer’s disease, which he did not allow to slow him down. His daily routine and pleasant smile brought true happiness to all whom he encountered. His remarkable love of life will be missed by many.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jean; four sons, William E. (Marie) Dolan Jr. of Willoughby, Robert L. (Kim) Dolan of Chardon, Daniel J. Dolan of Ashtabula and Terrance F. Dolan of Jefferson; 10 grandchildren, William III, Cori, Andy, Mary, Abby, Alexa and Ashley Dolan, Jason Schafer, Justin Cartor and Danielle DiDonato; nine great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Charles F. (Helen) Dolan of New York, N.Y. and Larry J. (Eva) Dolan of Chagrin Falls.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Gregory Daniel Dolan; and a brother,, David Dolan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m., Tuesday, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 3049 N. Main St., Rock Creek, with the Rev. John Madden officiating. Burial will be in Morgan Union Cemetery with Geneva VFW Post #6846 offering Military Honors.
Calling Hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Monday, at the Jefferson Home of FLEMING & BILLMAN FUNERAL DIRECTORS, 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson.
