ASHTABULA — James A. Shreve, age 78, of Ashtabula, passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2013, at Carington Park.
He was born Sept. 3, 1934, in Charleston, W.Va., the son of James Franklin and Lennie Olive (Willey) Shreve and had been an Ashtabula resident since 1970.
He enjoyed wood working, especially making matchstick pictures and lighter holders.
He is survived by his children, James G. Shreve Sr. of Georgia, Richard C. (Claudine) Shreve and Regenea (Phil) Brazil, both of Ashtabula, Maria (Joel) Watson of Conneaut and Garold F. (Katrina) Shreve of Texas; 10 grandchildren, James, Kristyna, Zoe, Dennis, Nicholas, Neil and Garold Shreve Jr. and Barry II, Ryan and Kristy Anderson; one great-grandson, Barry Anderson III; sisters, Betty Lee, Mary Simmons and Connie Combs; and brothers, Ernest (Sandy) Shreve and Henry (Thelma) Shreve.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Cention Violet Shreve (in infancy), Denver Shreve, Arnold Shreve and Leila Mae McGraw.
It was his wish that no calling hours be observed.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 3rd, at First Community Church of God, 1910 South Ridge West, Ashtabula, with Pastor Hal Morgan officiating. Burial will be in Shreve Family Cemetery, Pine Grove, W.Va.
