PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. — Daniel John Poje, age 67, of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away Saturday, August 17, 2013.
He was born Sept. 6, 1945, in Conneaut, Ohio, to Jeanne (née: Sumser) and Stanley Poje.
Daniel, a graduate of Conneaut High School and New York City School of Electronics, returned to his native Ohio where he worked for General Electric Company in Nela Park, Ohio, before owning and operating his own Union 76 Service Station in Mentor Headlands, Ohio. He later sold his business and moved on to the R.W. Sidley Mack Truck Dealership in Ohio; and the Steele Truck Center in Fort Meyers, Fla., after moving to Port Charlotte from his native Ohio in 1998.
He was a member of St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church in Port Charlotte.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon M. Poje; two sons, Kurt and Kenny Poje; a sister, Kathi (Mike) Brady; two nieces, Kelly (Eric) Hammond and Traci Vogler; and a grand-nephew, Kyle Hammond.
Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, Jeanne and Stanley.
Visitation and Wake Service were held at ROBERSON FUNERAL HOME, Port Charlotte Chapel, and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church. Local Memorial Mass will be celebrated 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 7th, at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, 594 West Main, Geneva, Ohio. A private committal will be held at a later date.
