ASHTABULA — Launa “Lee” Leonard, age 82, of Ashtabula, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014.
She was born Feb. 14, 1931, in McDowell, Ky., the daughter of Mines and Birdie (Hamilton) Elliott.
Launa worked and retired from Rayon Industrial Company in Painesville, Ohio. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, cross stitch, and in her later years playing Bingo. She was an avid golfer and played different courses in her travels. Luana was a sports fan of Cleveland Indians baseball and basketball, but a devoted Pittsburgh Steelers fan. She had two green thumbs and could grow just about anything. She was a wonderful cook and would not hesitate to try new recipes that she would share with family and friends. But most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Surviving her are two daughters, Brenda (Tom) Keyes of Ashtabula and Joyce (Joe) Tomecko of Brandon, Fla.; her daughter-in-law, Esther Panzone of Ashtabula; and one grandson, Christopher (Ashley) Panzone of Ashtabula.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her second husband, Richard Leonard; her beloved son, Leonard Ray Panzone in 2013; and her best friend and brother, William Elliott.
Launa will be greatly missed and forever loved by those who knew her. The family would like to thank her friends Sherwood and Nancy Evix for all their love and support during this time.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date with burial in Lulu Falls Cemetery.
